Dr. Andrea Quah, MAPS
Clinical Psychologist
DPsych (Clin), BA (Hons)

What drew me to this profession?
My interest in people and the complexity of the human condition. It is a privilege to hear people’s life stories and be part of their journey of recovery and renewal. I often have profound conversations with people as they work
towards achieving insight, healing, acceptance and empowerment.

Mental Health Work Experience
I have experience in adult, child and adolescent mental health. I worked at Monash Health’s Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS) for 8 years supporting children and teenagers who often present with very challenging and high risk difficulties. I have been working in Private Practice for a number of years.

Who do I treat?
Children, adolescents, and adults. People often dismiss the connections between life stages and find it very grounding and illuminating when links are made.

My therapy style
I provide a safe, non-judgemental space so people can speak without fear during assessment and treatment. My work is done in partnership with clients within a trusting therapeutic relationship to understand the factors underlying their distress with the aim to achieve their desired goals. When working with children, I often find that the involvement of parents, schools and families in the treatment is vital to positive outcomes. I draw on a range of evidence based therapies depending upon each individual's circumstances. These include Supportive psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Play Therapy.
